King Salmon Lodge, on Alaska's Naknek River near Katmai National Park, was built in 1950 and has been a staple fly fishing spot for the region for 75 years!

We are the only fly fishing lodge in the area that offers guests a nightly rate and our adventures are completely customizable, too.

Good time to go

The best time to visit our lodge depends on your interests. In June, enjoy fishing for hungry Rainbows, Arctic Grayling, Artic Char.

July is prime for witnessing the Sockeye Salmon migration, along with Grizzly bears on the banks, eagles overhead and blooming wildflowers.

In August, Coho, Chum and Pink Salmon arrive, and bigger Rainbows can be caught as they fatten on salmon eggs and flesh.

September, while windier and rainier, offers great opportunities to target giant Rainbows, colorful Arctic Char and hungry Grayling. Each month provides unique experiences tailored to your focus!

Local Attractions

Katmai National Park

Observe Alaskan Coastal Brown Bears and visit the fabulous Valley of 10,000 Smokes. Acre for acre, nothing compares to the majestic beauty of Katmai National Park.

Katmai was originally established as a National Monument in 1918 to protect the volcanically devastated region surrounding Mount Katmai and the Valley of 10,000 Smokes.

Today the valley offers a chance to explore a landscape created by the largest volcanic eruption of the 20th century.

The beauty, scale, wildness and mystery of the valley make it one of the best places in the world to study the power of volcanic eruptions.

The valley also protects 9,000 years of human history, and is essential for the thriving eco-system of red salmon and brown bears.
